Give Thanks!

Atlanta traffic is horrible. That's H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. Horrible. On any given morning, my 42 mile commute can be 45 minutes or it can be 2 hours. It all depends on how well my fellow commuters are driving. In order to pass time in traffic, I listen to my favorite morning show - "The Bert Show" on Q100. It's the only thing that gets me through my commute. Well, that and a large diet coke.

Anyhow, what does this have to do with anything? Well, the morning show is putting together what they call "The Big Thank You". "The Big Thank You" is their campaign to collect 375,000 thank you letters for deployed military personnel. This will ensure that each person has a letter to open on Thanksgiving morning, thanking them for everything they are sacrificing to give us the freedoms we enjoy. I think it's safe to say that no matter what your personal feelings are about the war, (and I don't want to get into that debate) each and every one of us are grateful that these people are there to protect us, especially when it means missing holidays with their families.

I'm going to take 10 minutes out of my day and send a letter. If anyone else would like to participate, please see the guidelines on the q100 website. This would be a great thing for your kids to do as well!

And there is your public service announcement for the day...

In other news, apparently I had a sinus infection. Lots of meds later and I'm feeling pretty good! Went back to work today (stayed home Mon and Tues) and was just a bit tired but I think that's from the meds.

Besides that... nothing new! Alex is going on a school trip this weekend (Williamsburg, VA) so it should be nice and quiet at our house! I SHOULD be using that time to get a lot done. I'll probably just nap. :-)

Another post on Friday... the 3 month anniversary of our dossier being in Krasnoyarsk! Yes, we ARE still adopting... betcha you forgot that was what this blog was "supposed to be" about, huh? Yeah... the wait is killing me too. :-) Hang in there my dear faithful readers... we'll get through this long journey in one piece, I promise! (Where, oh where, did that optimism come from??)

Hugs!
Becky

You are so funny! I though this was going to be a rant about traffic. You have missed out on the worst of it this week. Monday was especially bad.

Glad you are feeling better. I'm still up and down. But I only have 3 days left of work before I go...so I have to go in!! If I start the downward slide again this afternoon I think I am going to go to the Dr.

I'll be happy to let you panic for me, but I still don't know how I am going to get everything done! LOL! Tonight I have to get the house ready for the cleaners to come. Ya know...pick everything up so they can actually clean. HA!

See you at work today!

Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for the link, my husband was in Iraq 4 years ago and we like to send things to the men & women over there. Funny you would write that "yes, we are still adopting", last night I was thinking, I am going to stop obsessing over this aoption and forget we are even doing it. Well, not going to happen, I already checked FRUA twice this morning for updates (and it's only after 9am)
It WILL happen in due time!!!!

LOVE your attitude!
That's a great post - I'll definitely send letters and will pass this on.
I don't know if you know about Houston traffic but it's right behind L.A. for the worst in the US. It's an hour drive for my commute for 20 miles! The evenings are worse. UGH - I HAVE to have my Sirius Satellite Radio or I'd go insane...

Hey. Thanks for the link for the military. I'll try to get our son to help make a card this weekend. What a great art project and learning process for our son at the same time.

Glad you are feeling better and staying optimistic about the adoption. At least we have each other and our baby milestones to keep us busy. The holidays help too!

So, a sinus infection huh? Fun! Lucky you! I had one of those a while back but it was actually a blessing in disguise b/c it finally put an end to some GI trouble I'd had ever since coming home from Trip #1 to Russia. I think it was a weird strain of something (I know I'm goin out on a limb with such a specific diagnosis) but the antibiotic for the sinus thing seemed to do double duty and that was the end of the GI thing too.

All I can say is...don't woory if they think you are making Meth...ask for the behind the counter Sudafed. The stuff on the shelves is useless. All it does is give you artificial yawns all day.

You need to move to Alaska. There is never traffic (unless someone hits a moose in the highway and then as soon as the body is drug to the side of the roas things are back to normal). :)

I am so glad you got some medicine and are feeling better!!!

I know you must feel like at times you aren't even adopting a child because time just keeps ticking on by. I guess pretending it's not happening will make it go by faster and what a surprise it will be when you get the call!! :)

I'm so glad you are doing better.

Adrienne

By the way, I hate traffic too!
