I keep thinking I have posted, but then I remember that I only posted an update on Facebook. My aging mind just can’t seem to keep up. :-) I don’t have much time this weekend, but wanted to post a few bullet points so I can look back like I do with Andrew’s adoption.
- I asked my agency for an update on Nathan after my “woe is me, my doesn’t he smile” post. The SWI (orphanage) obliged and sent a very cute video of him opening his stacking cups, acting out a song, doing something similar to ring around the rosey (and he SMILED) and moving chairs around. It didn’t make me feel 100% better, but it sure got me excited and ready for this to be over so we can really see this little boy’s personality!
- We received our LSC (Letter Seeking Confirmation, otherwise known as LOA which was the old acronym used) on Friday, November 4th! It was quite a bit earlier than I anticipated. Our log in date was 9-15, so that makes a 49 day wait. Whooohooo!
- We sent our I-800 application off to the USCIS on 11/8 . The I-800 and LSC combined is our application to USCIS specifically for Nathan. The I-800A approval which we received in August, gives us permission to adopt a child of a specific gender and age range with special needs. The I-800 process in the US approval to adopt Nathan, specifically. Convoluted process? Indeed. We’re hoping for a 4 week turn around time for the I-800 approval and then on to the next (convoluted) step!
- Andrew seems to be getting a bit more “interested” in the idea of a brother. He helped me clean out his toy chest and made a pile of toys for Nathan. He’s referred to him a few times without prompting which is pretty big for him!
- I think we’ll travel sometime mid/late February since Chinese New Year is the first week of February. I’m already trying to figure out if I can cover the Marriott hotel room with points and am looking at flights. I originally thought we’d fly from Atlanta to Seoul to Beijing and on the way home Hong Kong, Seoul, Atlanta. I liked the idea of the longest part of the flight being last on the way home. Also, not a big fan of flying through the North (Chicago, Detroit, etc…) during winter because of snow and delays.
Okie doke… that is all the brain can come up with right now! :-)
Have a great night!
Becky

Congratulations on receiving your LSC/LOA! Wonderful news!! So happy for you.
Sorry that you must wait through the holidays to bring Nathan home. I know you are ready to travel, but I'm glad you were able to get video during the wait.
Would love to visit sometime. Saw where "The Grinch" was in Atlanta and thought about us trying to meet you there!
The Grinch musical that is (Fox Theater).
I am not on blogs much anymore but would love to be your friend on facebook. Couldn't remember your last name to look you up. Congrats on the 2nd adoption! Friend me on facebook!
Grandma still wants to babysit Andrew while you and Keith are flying around the world. I so enjoyed staying with Alex while you went to Russia to get Andrew. But that is selfish me....
