I was sitting on the highway tonight, stuck in traffic. Non-moving traffic. “The highway has been shut down AGAIN” traffic. Car was in park and I was silently grateful that I had been held up at work an extra 10 minutes because, otherwise, that could have been me in that accident. Rare for me to be glass half full, but driving as much as I do every day, I’m so thankful to get home in one piece. This week alone, the highway I drive on has been shut down three times. Three times, people, for really bad accidents. So sad and scary.
But, I digress. While I was sitting there doing nothing, I came across a picture that I forgot I had. My agency was holding a conference and the director of Nathan’s orphanage had come as a guest speaker. With him, he brought pictures of some of the kids. Most of the pictures were older kids putting on performances, but then I came across this picture:
I zoomed in on it as best I could and realized that was my little guy!! He is the one to the left – styling and profiling in the orange shirt, pink pants (one leg up and one down – he’s cool like that) and blue croc-looking shoes. It’s not the best picture, but great to see him participating in activities at the orphanage.
The picture put a smile on my face – especially when I realized we have 27 days until we head to China!

We did receive our CA date, by the way! It’s on 3/13 @ 8:30 am – first available appointment on the first day for children over 2. (Kids 2 and under can have a Monday CA because they don’t have to have a TB test read.) We have travel booked and it looks a little something like this:
3/1 – Fly to Hong Kong via Seoul. Hang out and explore Hong Kong as we adjust to the time difference. Head to Guangzhou on a train on 3/4.
3/15 – Fly from Guangzhou to Seoul and then back home!
There’s obviously a lot that happens between 3/1 and 3/15, but I haven’t quite absorbed all of that. Most importantly, Gotcha day is 3/5!!! Lists are being made, cleaning is getting done, work is being wrapped up and doctor’s appointments are being scheduled.
More later… off to get some work done!

Oh my gosh, this is getting so close! Woo hoo for a CA date! And what a little sweetie getting his groove on (or something?) in that pic with his friends.
Doesn't he look cute? Hopefully he won't ever have to wear pink and orange together again, although if I remember right we got him some really cool outfits that had Orange in them. Wrote it down on our calendar, Tuesday March 5th, 2012, Get Nathan Day! Just make your check off list day by day for the month and you all will be there before you know it.
I was thinking about you today! Glad you are safe - we had 3 accidents (11 cars) all in less than 1 mile pile up this morning and I just missed it, all because I thought I left the stove on and went home to check! Love those little miracles.
So excited for you to travel!! Can't wait for the posts from China!!
N is just so cool like that!! Love the pants legs up and down!!
My nephew has thug in him - love it!!
So excited that you will have him so soon! I'll be praying for you all as you prepare to travel and for you all to have a smooth and amazing Gotcha Day!
