St. Thomas, Part II

... and so the vacation continued without a lot of drama. We took a car ferry to St. John and went to Trunk Bay, took an excursion to Virgin Gorda, Marina Kay and Jost Van Dyke and went from beach to beach to beach. Our favorite beaches were Trunk Bay and Jost Van Dyke, by far.
Andrew, Alex and Brian got stung by a jelly fish after some storms rolled through - that was about the extent of the craziness the rest of the week (thank goodness!). Rather then rattle on, I'll end this post with a bunch of pictures in no particular order (because blogger is a pain in the neck to sort pics). I have some other pictures to share but can't tell you about those until they have been given as gifts first. :-)

I see this picture and I think "Make My Day", but really, Andrew was saying "Get that darn camera OUT OF MY FACE!" :-)

The boy after a LONG day of swimming

Nope! Not a pool... looks like it, doesn't it? This is Trunk Bay. Alex and Alan snorkeled for hours seeing a Sea Turtle, Stingray, Sea Urchins and bunch of large fish.

The family on the "slow boat" (car ferry) on the way to St. John.

Mommy and Andrew building a "sand castle". Andrew had gotten tired, swallowed half of the Caribbean Ocean, so this was my attempt at making him take a break. We made sand "pizzas", "sundaes", "castles", etc... Whew - hard to contain a 3 year old when so close to the water!

An absolutely gorgeous FULL rainbow on our way from St. Thomas to St. John.

Alex and Alan relaxing on the way to the British Virgin Islands. Such awesome boys!

Jost Van Dyke. Home of the Soggy Dollar Bar. There are no docks, so you have to swim up to shore with your "soggy dollars" to pay for your drinks. This is a barefoot island of about 200 people. It was pure heaven!

The Baths at Virgin Gorda. Another pristine beach. There are many Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoots that happen here. And no, they didn't ask me to participate while I was there. :-) Hehehe...

The captain of the New Horizons boat let Andrew drive. He was the only kid on the excursion and we were complimented left and right at how well behaved he was. There is no better compliment for a parent. He was polite, patient and so sweet to everyone. I was a proud mama!

Of course, maybe he was so sweet because he slept most of the way to the British Virgin Islands in his daddy's arms??

The boys... I am so, so lucky to have such an amazing family.

And that's the jist of it! We had an amazing time. It was great to spend time with Mandy and Brian for an entire week. We played Cranium and Keith and I, um, sucked. Brian, apparently, is a closet word jumble puzzle expert. Alex and Alan whooped up on us because they are SAT geniuses. Heck, I had to hum the theme from "Pretty Woman" and Keith couldn't even get it right! WHAT?? He makes fun of me for watching the movie every time it's on so his punishment is to sit and watch it with me (again) the next time it is on. If you've never played the game, I recommend it. And those of you with teenagers?? Play games - it's an awesome way to bond because they are always smarter then you. :-)

Next up... An Andrew update, an anniversary, Christmas in July, 7 colleges in 4 days and many, many more! :-)

Gonna go READ blogs now and catch up on the lives of my good blogging buddies!

I love it! What a great compliment to get about Andrew... and I love the punishment for Keith for not getting the Pretty Woman answer right... Haha! Make him watch it with you! :-) Cranium... on the list to get for Christmas perhaps.....

Wow, wow, wow!!! Those beaches and the water are so beautiful I was speechless there for a minute. We had to sacrifice the heavenly white sand beaches for activities, activities, activities (and nannys, of course). It takes a lot to wear our five out. And since Martin and I both work from home and homeschool, we needed a little "time away" too. But... someday we WILL make it to Soggy Dollars and Virgin Gorda! Is it possible to get too old to enjoy the Carribean?

Love the Rainbow, but my favorite photo is Andrew the Terminator! It looks like you had a wonderful vacation and you have some very handsome men in your life! I'm glad you were able to stay away from Doctor's the rest of the trip.

What a handsome dude in that first picture.

Virgin Gorda ... as in 'fat virgin' ... that's gotta hurt her feelings a little! ;)

It is amazing that isn't a pool. Almost unbelievable beauty!
