A Bloggy Visit and a Birthday

I'm not even going to apologize for being MIA for so long because, honestly, sometimes in life you just have wayyyyyyy to much going on and a ball needs to drop! Unfortunately, this is the ball that dropped (who am I kidding - one of many balls that have dropped - have you see the layer of dust in my house??). Regardless, I'm here for a short minute to post some updates. There was a time, long ago, that I used to scrapbook. That was pre-Andrew when I had weekends. Now, this blog is my "scrapbook" for him so I need to be better about updating it!

In the beginning of August, we had the pleasure of visiting with some dear friends. I call them bloggy friends because we met in the bloggy world, but really, they are just good friends now. Rachel, Troy and Daniel were on there way home from a vacation in Florida and Carey and family (private blog) just took a trip over to visit! We rented a house on Lanier so we could all hang out during the kid's naptime (who were we kidding? What nap?!?). Keith chauffeured us around the lake, we tubed, waded and wore the kids out! :-)

We didn't plan on having a kids birthday party for Andrew this year but when we realized Carey and Rachel were coming the weekend before Andrew's birthday, we decided to use that as a "mini" party of sorts. Wonder Pets was the theme and the kids were too darn cute in their "Ming Ming" masks. Being the awesome mom I am, I forgot to bring candles for the cake so I used a small jar candle. :-)

The following weekend, Andrew turned 4! He was so looking forward to that day. He knew he would get to measure on his growth chart and put a sticker on it which just made him giddy with excitement. We met my family at a restaurant on the lake where he unwrapped gifts and ate cupcakes. Andrew LOVES chocolate cupcakes. Let me rephrase that. Andrew LOVES chocolate cupcake icing. Oh. My. Goodness. I'll have to find the video and post it - it's actually quite disturbing! You don't mess with a boy and his cupcake icing! :-)

On the Alex front, the college application process is in FULL FORCE! (Speaking of which, I just realized that forms have to be turned in tomorrow for transcript requests and they haven't even been started yet. Did I mention that I'm not a very good juggler??) He has decided to apply Early Decision to Vandy. Yes, Ondrea, Carey and Kim... you read that right! Vandy is his top choice. I'm a bit nervous about it because his grades are mildly competitive although his test scores are a bit more competitive. I wish they still did interviews because, with Alex's personality and poise, it would seal the deal. Worst case, if he doesn't get accepted early decision then it will roll to regular decision. If he doesn't get accepted regular decision, his other choices are just as awesome - UVA, Clemson, Auburn and possibly Belmont (we're going to visit Belmont Friday the 24th). Bottom line is that whichever way the decision goes, he won't be disappointed! :-)

And now... pictures...

Our Bloggy Lake Weekend

Sand Angels, anyone?

Say CHEESE!

Daniel (Rachel's little guy) is here now! And OH so tired!

Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets will save the day!

What's a party without party horns? Thankfully, they didn't make noise!

You're back! :) It sounds like you have had plenty to keep you busy in the world of toddler and teenager. Happy (very!) belated birthday to Andrew -- what a big boy he is becoming! And what an exciting time for Alex with the big decisions that lay ahead. Happy fall to your crew!
