The headline on our local paper the other day was “Atlanta, Colder than Alaska” and by golly, I think they are right! Starting Thursday afternoon, the snow started trickling in and by Friday morning the ground was covered with snow and ice. It was actually quite dangerous around here – lots of ice under the snow. In one part of town there was a 29 car accident… scary!
We went outside in the snow on Thursday afternoon and all Andrew talked about was catching snow on his tongue. He tried and tried!
Daddy came home just in time and since there was no snow to roll around in, he tossed Andrew high into the sky (which makes Andrew happy and sends me into a panic).
By Friday morning, this is what the house looked like! Snow… actual snow! (This is my “house on sticks” for those of you that remember my court day!)
I went into work late and did a little slipping and sliding on my way to the highway. I happened to be following a propane truck so I made sure to keep my distance! :-) The highways were clear but the roads downtown were quite icy. I think, because of the tall buildings, the sun never hits the roads (not too mention it never got above freezing yesterday). We stood by the window at work and watched cars try to get up the small hill in front of us. Some were lucky and others had to back all the way down and try again.
And so, it’s now Saturday and there is still snow on the ground which is likely just ice. Unfortunately, it was so darn cold yesterday that we didn’t actually play in the snow. It’s just bitter, bitter. With all of us battling colds it wouldn’t be much fun. Tonight we’re heading to the Monster Truck show like true Southerners. I’m going for the people watching, quite frankly.
I’m going to do a post about Windows Live Writer one of these days. I’m still playing around with it and so far, so good. I’m trying to figure out what the ideal photo size is. While I love being able to put a lot of pictures grouped together, if you plan on printing your blog into a book the picture size will be too small. Blogger compresses the photo size when it’s uploaded and I think Live Writer might be compressing them even further. So, until I get it figured out, you’ll have some pretty big pictures on this blog! :-)
Have a great day!
Becky

Oh I hope we thaw out soon. It's 14 degrees in Dallas right now. I feel your pain!
It never got above 22 here yesterday. It's been snowing for 24 hours and we still only have about 1/4 of an inch. Can someone please tell me where in heaven's name this snow is going? Our yard should be a wonderland by now, but I can still see the grass. UGH!
Could that boy be any cuter? seriously?!??!?!
How fun to see a photo of your "house on sticks!" Yes, I remember that day in court for you well...because it was only a couple of weeks before our own day in court, and there was a good chance we were going to have the same judge. After I read your post, I franticly searched for some sort of document that indicates we own our land AND the house on it! LOVE your wrap around porch, BTW, even if it is held up with sticks! ;) Enjoy the snow, and stay warm!
Okay, since when are you a true southerner my friend? That would be like me saying I'm a true southerner. :-) I wish it would warm up a bit here too. It is bitter cold, and despite the fact that I should be used to it (living in the north for all those years), my body has evidently adjusted to this southern climate. It does not like bitter cold! Hoping we get above freezing today!
Have fun people watching at your monster truck show! LOL! Too funny, I can't wait to hear all about it!
I LOVE the shot when Andrew is airborne!! And, I'm so happy to finally see the "house on sticks" (I totally remembered that post:->) . . . . LOVE your porch - I've always wanted one like that!!
Our temp has been between -18F and -4F this week so I haven't been out much even though the kids are having a blast sledding.
Awesome! I love the posts of you Southerners! I love the pics, your boys are great. Even if it is cold it is worth a few minutes in the snow, go enjoy it, make a snow angel or two.
Your house on sticks is beautiful and I always love seeing pics of Andrew up in the air...it reminds me of your first few days with him ;)
Hope you are thawing out. We got up to 35 today! woohoooo.
You are losing the New Yorker in you....it's not too cold to play in the snow silly.... we haven't gotten higher than 20 in over a week and have had a blast in our 2 ft of white stuff! LOL!! You may have officially converted to a Southern-er!! - Shan
Your 'house on sticks' is BEAUTIFUL!!
Sorry you're all feeling lousy. It went around here too.
Andrew is adorable trying to catch a snowflake! I wish we got SOME snow instead of just cold!
