May 27

BoysMowLawn2

On May 27th, I’m going to be a mess.  A sobbing, crying mess.  Those two little boys in the picture above are both graduating on the same day.  Both in red caps and gowns.  Granted, one is graduating from Pre-K and the other is graduating from High School, but what an emotional day it will be.

Andrew’s Pre-K class is going to be performing a song during graduation.  We’re not supposed to know about it but as soon as I heard Andrew practice the words, I knew exactly what it was - “I’ve Had the Time of My Life”.  Andrew told me they are supposed to think of their mom and dad as they sing it.  Tissues, anyone?

BlakeGrad3 The graduation season began last week when our “other” son graduated.  Blake and Alex have been friends for many years and I remember the early days of them playing x-box all night, eating all of the cookie dough when they thought no one was looking and being “kids” regardless of whether they were 10 or 18 .  Blake lived across the street from us and has gone through many personal issues in his 18 years.  He comes from a divorced family and so we’ve always been his second family.  He’s been like a son to both Keith and I.  We surprised him at his graduation on Thursday night and, of course, I cried as he was getting his diploma.  There were days I wasn’t sure if he was going to make it through High School but deep down inside, I knew he could and he would.  He’s heading off to college in the Fall and I couldn’t be any prouder.

So, we have graduation announcements to get out and a party to plan!  The stress is running high, but I’m trying to get myself to just slow down and smell the roses. :-)

I need ideas for teacher gifts – both pre-K and High School.  I’m sure there are many of you that have been there, done that and could give a girl some help! :-)

And one last picture… Andrew is now accessorizing on his own. :-)  This is what my son looks like after a day with his dad, purple gatorade and WAY too much sugar! :-)

When Andy grauated the seniors presented the Mom's with a longstem red rose, and I remember telling him I am not crying tonight but make no promises for when you get married. When Ashley graduated from Kindergarten they were just so cute that we were grinning from ear to ear with pride. Can't wait to see the pics of both events!
