My boys like trucks!

Yep, they like trucks. Big trucks, little trucks, restoring trucks, going to truck shows, washing trucks, driving trucks and dreaming about trucks. Sounds a bit extreme, but they really do love trucks! At any given time Alex has a picture of some "cool" truck he found as his cellphone background. Keith's screen saver is all of the pictures he took at the last F-100 truck show. He owns more trucks then I have earrings and I'm totally not kidding! He owns 4 F-100's waiting to be restored, a 1974 Bronco that he's restoring, a 1991 Bronco that he drives from time to time and a 2002 Ford F150 Lightening. (And no, these are not all stored at my house!)

I must admit... the truck thing can drive me crazy (especially when I find a new one in my driveway or one that goes into the shop for a day and comes back with something different done to it), but it's a family addiction that cannot be denied. That being said, I think it's pretty safe to assume that the Peanut will be a truck lover. He'll come by it naturally. I've hemmed and hawed over what kind of bedding to get for his crib and tonight I bit the bullet and ordered it online. 3 guesses as to what the theme is? And the first 2 don't count.... TRUCKS!

Here is a sample view of what the whole ensemble looks like. I only purchased the quilt, sheets, bumper, dust ruffle and window valances (from JcPenney - it was on sale AND I got free shipping!)

Here is a close-up (although the colors look a bit off - it's brighter like the picture above) of the quilt.

The room is currently an olive green on two walls and a brownish/greenish on the other two. I didn't really want to repaint so I thought this would be a good way to add some color, but also keep it kind of subdued and calming. I plan on accenting the rest of the room with the bright orange and, as of right now, I'm pretty sure the furniture will be that dark espresso color. That's still up in the air though.

So, it's my first BIG Peanut purchase! :-)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Becky

Oh I wish I knew about that set when we brought our son home, since his room theme is construction. All we found were transportation and sports. Very cute.

That is really cute! I think your son can get a long time of use out of the theme and it makes for a cute boy's room.

cute bedding! I love the colors. I thought that was one of the most stressful things to buy. I had a picture (in my mind) of what I wanted (esp. for Princess). Bubby's blanket is hanging on his wall now. Congrats!

That's a cute set you found. It's hard finding cute boy stuff. I love the orange in there for accent too.

What is up with boys and their trucks? My boys love all things truck too. My oldest has a fire truck themed room. He's been obesessed with firetrucks since he was 2.

Congratulations on your first big item buy...it sure is fun isn't it? I love buying/decorating kid stuff.

YEA! Congratulations! Oh my gosh, Owen would LOVE that room!! He is going to be so jealous when he comes to visit his Russian cousin little Peanut :)

Isn't it crazy how much boys love trucks? Owen even pretends his spoon is a car or truck after dinner, driving it around on his highchair tray and saying "bup bup" (beep beep). Boys boys boys.

I can't wait for you to bring yours home! He's going to love his new room.

I'm so glad you've gotten started. It's so much fun and makes it so much more real, doesn't it?!

Love the trucks. Its amazing how boys are born knowing how to go VROOOM! Gretchen never tried but it was one of Matt's very early attempts at communication. Of course, I always wanted a dump truck when I was little, but I was a girl - not appropriate. Your grandmother finally gave me one when I was 32! Sometimes you just have to be patient - as you well know.

Love the trucks!! My Max is very into trucks and especially tractors, so he has been collecting all the John Deere his grandparents can find for him! I know your son is just going to LOVE his room--
I am still praying constantly for accreditation for CHI....'Tis the season to Believe, right??

Becky I really like the bedding! I bet it wil look great with the espresso furniture. Is it seeming more real with the room coming together? I would think so. Because we are adopting two, we won't be decorating until we know the ages.... and because it could very well change to "boys" in a heartbeat! You never know with Russian adoptions. :-)

What a cool bedding set!! And something he can grow with, so you're not having to repaint (or paint, hehehe) and redo everything when he's in a big-boy bed. Good choice!

I LOVE it!!! It will go great with the wall color and the orange will brighten everything up!! Troy and I looked at bedding sets this weekend because we are floundering on what we had originally picked. I'm glad you bit the bullet and maybe we will too!! I absolutely love it - did I mention that?!?!

Love the truck bedding. Such a boy bedroom he will have. This will be a good fit for your peanut as he enters toddlerhood. We went with frogs which is a little boyish for a three year old. This Christmas, we are buying the twin bed and putting on the airplane bedding and airplane light (shown in the Thomas train room). It is really cute and of course, Pottery Barn.

Thanks for the FRUA posts. I didn't get to respond, but I love your blog b/c it saves me time having to look up the latest news on FRUA myself!

Becky,
I love it. We have boats that just appear. He keeps them all at his parents house. The funny thing is that he tells them I can not keep them at my house because it would look messy. Did I mention he has OCD.

What a lucky find! Looks like it will be perfect for your family and space you have to work with. I would draw the line at transmissions soaking in my bathtub though. I heard somewhere that that is a sure sign you are a redneck!:)
