Accepted!

Alex heard back from one of the colleges he applied to - Auburn. Auburn was on his "just in case" list, but it has proven to be a good, actually wonderful, "just in case" choice. Today he received a letter from the school and he has not only been accepted into their Honors College but he received a scholarship. Not just any scholarship, but Auburn University's highest academic award - the Academic Presidential Scholarship.

This scholarship covers tuition and fees for four years - $19,452 per year or $77,808 over four years. In addition, he'll receive $1,500 as a technology allowance his first year and a $4,000 enrichment experience stipend to use his junior or senior year.

To say that Alex is floating around this house is an under statement. I think that maybe he now realizes that all of his hard work and all of the "get off the phone and go do your homework NOW" was worth it! We are SO proud!

So, we still are awaiting decisions from Clemson, University of Virginia and, of course, Vanderbilt. He applied early decision to Vandy and that is binding so if he does get in he'll most certainly be going there. If he doesn't get in, he'll have quite the decision to make!

And... pictures of the happy boy opening his first acceptance letter.

YAY, Alex!

Hugs!
Becky

AMAZING - Way to go, Alex!

My nephew just started at Auburn this fall and LOVES it! He also really wanted Vandy, but didn't get accepted in the early decision process. My nephew is a GREAT kid (just like Alex) and I'm sure he'd be happy to show Alex around and introduce him to some new friends.

We are so extremely proud of you Alex. I immediately emailed copies of your acceptance to "everyone" I knew that knows of you, about 50+ people, and have answers back already, how proud they are of you, and what an honor to achieve. Once I read it, I cried, I couldn't help it. If Vanderbilt doesn't come through, it is their loss. What's so weird is I keep seeing in my mind is that adorable blue eyed, blond little baby that came in the world all those years ago next month. Way to go grandson, We are so super Proud!!!
