Stuffs

You would think that someone who is leaving soon, say in about 24 days, would have lots to post about, but honestly - I don't!

We're waiting for our Visas to come back. If they aren't here by next Monday I'll begin panicking. I haven't started packing yet. I have come to realize that I'm a planning procrastinator. I think that means that I have a plan but I procrastinate and end up executing that plan in the last minute. How's that for rationalizing my laziness? The week before we leave I'll have lots to post about I'm sure. :-)

I have delegated. Yes, you read that correctly. I delegated a task to my husband. He is responsible for getting new money from the bank. I gave him a deadline of the Friday before, you know... just in case. After tonight's crockpot episode, I realize I should have given him a deadline of 2 Fridays before. Just in case.

Let's talk about the crockpot episode real quick. It all started Monday. I asked Keith to put the meat in the crockpot, pour the stuff in and turn in on low for 8 hours. Monday night - there is no dinner. He forgot. Tuesday morning, I remind him to pour the stuff in the crockpot and turn it on low for 8 hours. I get home and can smell the stroganoff cooking. Yummmmm.... I got poke at the meat and it's hard as a rock but doesn't look over cooked. I can't even break it apart. So in comes Keith so I asked him when he put it in, etc... "Well, I put it on low for a couple of hours and then turned it to warm". Last I checked, a "couple" meant 2 hours. Yep - he cooked meat for 2 hours. We had a quick discussion about the science of crockpot cooking and the importance of meat temperature and then headed to the local pizza place. I needed a beer. :-)

This weekend we're having a bbq at my sisters. Her birthday was April 18th and mine is the 28th so we're having a little family get together. Ribs, chicken and ice cream cake. All of the good stuff!

Speaking of food (a common theme for this blog post tonight apparently).... I have a visual and verbal warning for all of you mom's of boys. SAVE YOUR MONEY NOW!! Groceries will cause you to go bankrupt if you are not adequately prepared. Small spoons can no longer fill a growing boy's mouth and bowls are too small to hold all of the food they need.

And now for some excitement! CONGRATULATIONS to Janine and family! She is now the proud mama to Emily. CONGRATULATIONS to Dana and Aaron - they received their court date! CONGRATULATIONS to Denise and Mike! They are now the proud parents of Joshua and are waiting out their 10 days. I hope I'm not forgetting anyone... if so I'm so sorry!

Ta-ta for now!

Becky

Thanks for the advice about "saving our money". Our son (almost 6) eats like a bird; rarely does he eat dinner...just picks. My husband always says, "he's going to eat us out house and home when he gets older."

Ha! Love the photo! That was great!

Norm sympathizes with you. Him giving me any type of cooking instructions usually have the same results as your instructions to Keith. I just can't be trusted in the kitchen at all.

So we're down to 24 days, huh? I'm really hoping we're going to be there at the same time. Guess we'll find out on Friday!

Love the crockpot episode!! Men! well actually boys - do they ever change???? I understand the procrastination! We packed last minute both times and I think we did better for it!

Hysterical!! I know, sometimes it is easier to just do things yourself rather than having to explain everything!! But, I think we will all be happier if we learn to delegate more once our little ones arrives!! And hey - you are allowed to be a little lazy for a while - Look at all the work it took to get to this point!! Have fun preparing for your trip!! Teresa

I LOVE it, the story and the picture. Similar things happen in our kitchen. 23 days and counting. I am looking forward to the packing posts.
