Let's see here...

Andrew has been cracking us up lately with the things that he says. One of my favorites is "Let's see here...." and my other is "How abooouuutttt...

To give you some examples, tonight we had just gotten done reading books and Andrew had climbed in bed. The conversation went like this:

Mom and Dad: Night, Andrew! See you in the morning!
Andrew: Wait, wait! I have something to say!
Mom and Dad: Okay, what do you have to say?
Andrew: Let's see hereeeee..... I have to say..... ummmm.... twenty words.
Mom and Dad: 20 words, huh? What 20 words?

... and then a lot of rambling. Rewind and repeat this conversation but then he only has to say 5 words. He's the master negotiator!

An example of "How about....":

Mom: Come on, bud. We need to get out of the car so we can go to your class.
Andrew: How abooouuutttt... ummm... 3 jelly beans?
Mom: Nope. Let's go. We're late.
Andrew: How abooouuutttt... 2 jelly beans? Just 2, okay? Okay.
Mom: Nope. No jelly beans until after school and after Miss Nicole tells me you're a good boy.
Andrew: How about just one jelly bean? (Imagine this sweet little boy with his head cocked sideways looking over his glasses all pitiful. :-))

For the record, no - he doesn't win. :-)

And another example:

Mom: Andrew, are you doing the potty dance? Do you have to go potty?
Andrew: How abooouuutttt... no!

His teacher, Miss Nicole, told me today that they were in circle time and she decided to ask Andrew to give an example of what happens when spring comes. He answers her with "One minute. I'm thinking." and then proceeds to tap his finger to his lip as he's thinking. He then says "One minute. I'm still thinking." and continues to tap his lip with his pointer finger. She said she had all she could do to not smile. He finally pipes up with "Okay. I'm done thinking now. Spring means the sun comes out and flowers grow." :-)

At that time, a teacher was being interviewed in the classroom. She turned to Nicole and asked her how old the kids were. (They are 3 -5 years old). Nicole said some are 2, some are 5, some are 23 and Andrew is 35. :-) She is amazed at the witty things that come out of his mouth. He keeps us all laughing, that's for sure!! :-)

One last story and then it's bedtime for me! We went to a restaurant the other night and there weren't very many people there. A little girl comes in with her family and Andrew is staring. She is staring back and I told Andrew to say hi. He walks over to me and squeezes up against me and says (with his bottom lip sticking out) "I'm toooo shy." Anyone that has ever met my son knows he is FAR from shy. I think I'm going to be in BIG trouble when he starts to date cause he sure knows how to play the game! :-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post sometime soon!

Hi Becky, I loved this latest post. Andrew seems like such a character! So hysterical! This is Joanna from www.russianboywonder.blogspot.com. We're just about to travel for our 3rd trip to pick-up our new son who is a little over 2-1/2 years old. I was wondering how you and Keith handled the language difference with Andrew? Our son doesn't speak a lot but pretty much understands everything that is said to him in Russian. Did you guys speak Russian to Andrew in the beginning or English? Or a mix of both? If you get a chance (I know you're busy) would you mind e-mailing me at joannapaul5@mac.com? Thanks either way! Best, Joanna

Alex says the SAME things!! It must be Mickey Mouse (I can even see the inflections being the same). He always has people laughing with the "Um, let's see..." and "How abooooout..." The boys are so much alike.
