The past few nights, I've gone to sleep super early. Typically no later than 9:00 which is early for a night owl like me. Well, last night I fell asleep by about 9:10. At 5:30 in the morning I woke up, asked Keith if he was getting up to shred (go figure) and fell back asleep. Then the dream came.
I had a dream about kids, like most others that I've had. I had a baby. I didn't actually "have" the baby - I never do in my dreams. I was handed a baby. I've never, ever had a dream where I've actually "had" the baby and I think that's a pretty strong sign as to what my future holds. So, anyway, I had a girl - she was cute as a button and, as in every other dream, I was not prepared.
I had no clothes, diapers, food, nowhere to put her, etc... I was freaking out as she was crying and was trying to figure out what to do. I managed to settle her down and Keith went out to get the essentials. By the way, at some point we were outside of a concert - not sure what concert - but I was waiting for him to bring me back some formula.
Long story short, I woke up to Andrew climbing in bed with me telling me he had a birthday cake made for me. My birthday is next Tuesday and his cake was all of his refrigerator magnets in a big bowl... Yummmmm.... especially at 7:00 in the morning!!
Fast forward to tonight at dinner....
Becky: "So, Andrew... do you want a baby sister?"
Andrew: "NO!"
Becky: "How about a baby brother?"
Andrew: "NO!"
Becky: "Really?!?!?!"
Andrew: "I just want a BIG brother."
Keith: "You have a big brother - Alex! Don't you want to be the middle brother and have a little brother or sister?"
Andrew: "NO! Just a big brother."
Welllll... guess we know how he feels about that! :-) Good thing we're not ready to move forward with anything. Poor little guy will have to get used to it some day! hehehehe.... As I told Keith tonight "It's gonna suck when we bring home four more kiddos". And of course, Keith turned a little pale about that too.
It's funny because I talk at work about how awesome my sister and my dad and step-mom are when it comes to babysitting Andrew. My friend, who has four children, said "wait until you have 4 kids... they won't be so willing." I feel a challenge coming on. :-) Mandy, Dad, Dasha?!?! Y'all ready? :-)
Here are a few more pics from Mandy's party:

Sporting the birthday girl's hat while eating cheese.

Nana, showing off the cool "Nana" mugs the Grandpa found for her! (She hates having her pic taken, but this is a good one!)

Keith, Alex, Brian and Richard wore Andrew SLAP OUT! Here he is returning a touchdown! :-)
A Nana, Grandpa, Andrew photoshoot! :-)
Love,
Becky

Great pictures! I totally had a flashback to a childhood birthday party with the same hat . . .
Hate to say it, but your friend at work is right! No worries though, it all works out somehow anyway! Lately I've been floating the idea of a sister for Lexi...
Love the touchdown photo!
Great pics...Nana should stop worrying about having her picture taken...she looks great!
I wouldnt worry about Andrew. Kidschange their mind so fast. e my tell you next week he wants a baby brother or sister...or more likely when Alex goes away to school.
The more the merrier is what I always say! Its always a party at our house and everyone is happiest when the dogs are barking, kids are running and the phone is ringing.
Love Andrew in the birthday hat. That kid is just stinkin adorable. I bet he would come around and change his mind with a new little sibling....he would be a great big brother. He is just lovin' all this attention right now I am just sure! Who wouldn't?
:)

Where is the give and take here?!? I see - me, nana, and grandpa are just being USED! J/k - you know we love it. Although, if you decide to have another child that is smaller than Andrew, I don't know if I can babysit b/c Mason may eat him/her :-)
Love the dream - not quite prepared...wait until you have the dream where you are prepared and then try the conversation with Andrew again!!! Four more...I can see Troy paling at that one too!!
Love the photos!! Andrew is sooooo cute!!!
OMG - trust me, 2 is ENOUGH!
Love the pix-
Go for it! It's has been awhile since I checked in, lovin' this post! I started to get right around this time, after Cade coming home:) Hope all is well.
Awww-I'm sure Andrew would be thrilled with another sibling. That is cute that he is so focused on just having his older brother! Too funny!
Ah, here I was hoping that you'd already made a decision to move forward once again :o) Just wishful thinking!
Loved the photos!
Okay, first of all, you will not be without STUFF because the minute you get on that plane to Russia I'll have a FedEx BOX in the mail chock full of Meg's overflows, which are, believe me, not by any means the "bad" stuff, but a girl can only wear so many outfits in a year! Anyway... I had chills when you were talking about it and Andrew will definitely GET OVER IT!
As for the babysitting, they still will, just not all at once, which gets a bit tricky! :)
For some reason the photo of Andrew carrying the football with that look on his face is cracking me up after an exchange we had months ago about children melting down in public and having to be carried away like a football!
Four more kids?! Girl, you better start stocking up on the wine now! ...Seriously, I look forward to following every last one of your adoption journeys, how ever many there may be!
I cannot wait until you are ready again. A little girl, how much fun would that be?? Your conversation with Andrew is too cute, I bet he is enjoying being the 'baby' for awhile.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Becky, Happy Birthday to you!
I just love ya!

Hi Becky,
What strange dreams...maybe some sight from the future?! I love Andrew's reaction to having another sibling, and your husband's reaction to another child as well...priceless.
The picture of Andrew in the birthday hat is too cute. What a silly little boy!

I love the comment about 4 more kiddos! Aaron and I talk about one more but it is mostly me talking right now! I'm hoping in a few years I can convince we need to add just 1! Also I find your dream interesting b/c I am there with you I have never had a dream about having a biological child, it is always a baby that we have adopted. Very weird, but just tells me that we are on the right track with God's plan.
Just dropping in to say Happy Mother's Day, Becky! Hope you had an awesome day.
Thank you for the sweet post! I am so glad we found each other!!!! I just love ya!
Kristine
