Today's visit at the orphanage was much better than Thursday's! The day started out a bit rocky - lots of tears and a crumpled face, but I think it was partially because the Peanut's diaper was soaked straight through. The poor boy! We handed him back to be changed and in he came in a nice green outfit with pink socks. :-)
The Peanut was very hesitant of everyone that was there which is GOOD! It means he has an awareness of strangers and won't go to every person he sees - great for attachment. He was a bit better around Keith in the beginning. By the end of the time they were madly in love again.
Aunt Mandy was the source of yummy teddy grahams and fruit snacks. Brother Alex provided lots of fun with the stacking rings and bubbles. Daddy helped him beat on the Old McDonald toy with the hammer (talk about multi-tasking!) and then towards the end we payed "1,2,3 JUMP" with him which really got him going.
One of my favorite things from today was watching him drink out of the water bottle we brought with us. He would drink and then smack his lips together and let out a big "Ahhhhhhh". :-) He even turned the bottle towards Keith and helped Keith drink some water - unfortunately I was too late over there to get a picture.
I think we may have a future photographer on our hands. One of his favorite things to do is play with our digital camera. Aunt Mandy lent him her's and he captured some great shots of the group.
Pictures by the Peanut:
After the orphanage, our translator and driver too us the high point of Moscow. It is right near Moscow University which is one of the Seven Sisters (I think it's seven, it might be six). Those are the "skyscrapers". We went from there to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and then our driver and translator went home while we headed to Red Square. (click on the pictures below to enlarge)
We got caught in a lovely rain storm on the way there. Thinking we weren't going to be sightseeing, we had one umbrella. Mandy had her rain jacket and Keith and Alex had nothing. Needless to say we all got a bit damp! We went to the GUM mall and had a bilini with chocolate and then took the metro back towards Tverskaya street where we had a quick dinner at TGIF. (See! My kind of dinner... DESSERT first and then dinner!)
It's just about 10:00 here and everyone is fast asleep except for yours truly. We do have a busy day tomorrow - orphanage in the morning, moving into our apartment in the afternoon and since it's supposed to be the only rain free day we're going to have while Mandy and Alex are here we're hoping to head to Red Square for some (good) pictures.
That's all for now folks! A big CONGRATS to Ondrea who had a successful court hearing today! Not only that but she had her 10 days waived as well!
Love -
Becky

It looks like you guys are having a good trip so far. The flowers at the red square are so pretty. There was so much snow on the ground for our trip 1 that you couldn't even see the flower beds. On trip 3 we saw them planting all the bulbs but nothing pretty to look at and now I see how amazing it looks. You guys have a great time to travel and sight see.
Our red square pictures went something like this, "hurry up and snap the frickin picture, I'm freezing"..."did you get it? Okay good let's go, I can't feel my face anymore." Not exactly the casual stroll of sight seeing we were hoping for.
Yay! Glad today was a better day. Can't wait to see more pictures!
Cool pictures! Glad you're having a good time and today's visit with the little Nutter Butter went well. I'm sure Keith feels much better now.
Happy sightseeing tomorrow, can't wait to read all about it and see more pictures.
BTW...did Alex get to meet the blonde getting out of the limo in front of Moscow State University?
I have a very important question - when you said you ate at TGIF...is that like our TGIF's? I knew they had McDonald's of course, but not our sit down chain restaurants, too! Do they have a Perkins...because I would totally travel to Russia for Perkins! Or for the Ground Round!!!
Glad you kids are having fun!! Mucho hugs to all!
Becky,
I am following you, but haven't been commenting. I am loving following your trip. I think we would get into trouble if I had more time in Moscow! :)
By the way, I will be in Moscow Wednesday night now. I get in around 9 and we leave on Saturday. Let's get together Thursday or Friday night. It'll be a big old time! :)
Can't wait to meet you in Moscow!

So glad that your trip has been wonderful thus far! The pictures Peanut took are pretty awesome. It does look like you have a photographer in the family. I hope the rest of your week in terrific.

Yay - everyone is there and it looks and sounds as though you are having a good time. So glad the visit went better!!
Sounds like you are having a good time sightseeing in Moscow. So glad you are able to share this experience with Mandy and Alex.
I'm also glad to hear the peanut did much better today. I know how hard it is to get your expectations up during the adoption process, so I'm glad the peanut was happy today to see you and entertain his new family members (Mandy and Alex).
Praying for you and sending you lots of love!
Great pics - pretty flowers - what an exciting time!! :)
I'm so glad that things went well today with Peanut! Have fun tomorrow.
You guys look like you had so much fun! I bet it is wonderful to have Mandy and Alex there.... and I think in the picture of the 4 of you... Alex looks very much like he's Russian. :-)
Your budding photographer captured the joy in your family very well. I think he might have inspired it, too. ;>
Enjoy the sun!
Could you all be any more precious!
I new the little peanut would come around.. I am going to have to visist Russia one day because it looks gorgeous... I LOVE THE FLOWERS.

Great pictures! I'm glad you are having a great time and getting some sight seeing in. It is exciting to see your Peanut warming up to you, yet at the same time showing good attachment behaviors. I can't wait to read more about your adventures.
Best Wishes!
OMG - You guys look like you are having so much fun.. I can't believe Alex.. If I ran into him on the street I would never know it was him.. Thanks for keeping us all up to date on your antics!
How cute to have photos taken by the Peanut! I love the expressions on his subjects' faces! Apparently, that's how the grown-up world looks to little guys. :)
