Sent!

We received an email from CHI on Friday confirming that our dossier is on it's way to Russia. Here is a snip-it from that email to give you an idea of all that has to happen next:

Once your dossier is in Russia the following happens:

§ Translation of all documents
§ Notarization of all documents
§ Documents are apostilled at registration office
§ Paperwork is submitted to guardianship office
§ Dossier is registered by guardianship office (keep in mind this varies from region to region. Some regions register dossiers when the paperwork is submitted. Other regions do this step only when a child is to be referred to a family.)
§ Request is made to local ministry of education regarding child’s availability
§ Orphanage is contacted
§ Family is invited to travel to meet the child referred to their family
§ After first trip – Federal Ministry of Education is contacted by the Regional Ministry of Education to request the data base release letter for your child.
§ Release letter sent to local guardianship office to be presented with dossier
§ Children’s Hope representative and guardianship office representative go to court to submit dossier
§ Court official sets court date

The estimated time frame stated in the email is 8 - 10 mths for a boy < 24 months.

In other news, 8 more agencies were accredited last week. 5 American agencies and 2 others (1 from India, Spain and France). Congratulations to the families of these agencies! It's so exciting that things seem to be moving.

ETA: CHI was not one of the agencies accredited. The 5 US Agencies were Adopt-A-Child (AWAA), European Adoption Consultants, Wyoming Children's Society, Gift of Life and Adoption Associates.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Becky

Was CHI one of the agencies approved?

I have a feeling it will be less than that amount of time. There are lots of babies there and while no one was accredited, more have been filling up those homes. The courts just need to start pushing them through fast.

Ugh! It all has to be notarzed and apostilled again. Do you suppose there is any place left on the paper when they're done with it.

I hope your wait is a short one but for me it is always good to know what to expect then I can be pleasently surprised if it comes early.

Hopefully it won't be that long and they are just giving you the high end of the estimate. You know that whole underpromise, overdeliver thing. :)

I think our process is much simplier. It just amazes me how different things can be from one country to the next.

Congratulations!! We are so excited that your paperwork is on it's way to Russia. We have our home visit today and are hoping to have our home study approval by Thursday to go have our fingerprints completed. We have all our other Dossier paperwork done and plan to have it apostilled Thursday while we are in Nashville and turned into CHI on Thursday as well.

Hopefully, we too will be in Russia soon!!

Best wishes!

YEA!!! I'm so happy to read your dossier is on its way!

I know you are anxious to meet Peanut, and I hope it doesn't take the full 8-10 months! We were told the same wait time, and we got a referral in 7 weeks! I still can't believe that. We had to wait 2 months to meet him b/c of holidays, but we were so shocked. Our wait time between trips was 4 long months, as you know, which wasn't fun, but it was all so worth it in the end. Owen was placed into our arms at the perfect time.

I guess prepare for 8-10 months...but you never know!!

Happy for you!

I bet you it will be less than 8-10 months. Things are really picking up and I think you'll get your little "peanut" much quicker than you think!
