See! He really is a little Peanut! :-)
We've packed the suitcases for the most part and during nap time we'll have to go around and put away the rest of the stuff. We've started packing lots of snacks for him. Speaking of food... this boy can EAT! He didn't have a big breakfast - only a banana and yogurt. For lunch he had 3 blueberry mini muffin tops (while I made the rest of his lunch), I heated up a cheese ravioli gerber graduates (picked out the carrots and corn because he'll only eat the peas and ended up rinsing the ravioli so it had no sauce and called it chicken), crackers, yogurt, a few french fries and a bite of chicken from dad's plate. Gonna have to take out a second mortgage between him and Alex!
We keep questioning if we're feeding him too. He knows when he's done so that doesn't seem to be a problem and so I guess we'll just keep feeding him. It will be easier when we get home and are able to recognize all of the food in the grocery store. :-)
Well, it's now 12:20 am (how freaking weird is that!) and I'm just getting back to this blog! Bags are packed (they are overweight - oh well - what's another couple hundred bucks, right?), carry ons are good to go, clothes are laid out, food is cleaned out and dishes are in the dishwasher. Only thing left to do tomorrow is shower, dress all of us, feed all of us, go in search of a diet coke to help maintain sanity, double check the flat to make sure we didn't leave anything we didn't want to and head on out!
Let me tell you about our night. Unfortunately I have no pictures to show from the big event because I FORGOT THE CARD FOR MY CAMERA! I do have video which I can convert into pics but as you can imagine, no time for that now. Thanks to Dinia, we took Andrew swimming. You may remember me mentioning that he loves the bath and shower, well now he loves the pool. As in, L-O-V-E-S the pool. He walked right down the steps into my arms like he's done it a thousand times. We did ring around the rosey (I used to teach swim lessons and mommy and me classes) and "we all fall down" resulted in a big dunk under the water. He came up coughing the first time but after that loved it! He "swam" to and from Keith, Dinia and I over and over and over again.
When it came time to go he was not ready to get out of the pool but after promising him he could brush his teeth (yes, I'm serious) he willingly exited. Andrew took such a liking to Dinia. Calling her (read: screaming "Toytya Dinia" (Aunt Dinia) over and over and over again!) "Bwat, Toytya Dinia!" (Look, Aunt Dinia!). It was a hoot! He was so upset when we left her and Uncle Ron. We had to explain on the way home that Dinia and Ron had to go night night (as did the goyas (birds) and bakas (dogs) that we saw on our walk home). Pretty much anything he wants to see that is not around has gone night night. :-)
So, we get home and he goes potty and what does he ask for? A bath. He wants to get in the bathtub... in more water. I told him no, not tonight and asked him if he'd like to brush his teeth and yep - that did the trick! Of course after that he wanted to blow dry his already dry hair and I had nothing to negotiate with so we let him throw his temper tantrum until he decided playing with the stacking cups was more fun.
Bedtime was interesting. Poor kid was exhausted - absolutely exhausted yet he fought keeping his eyes open. We noticed he was flailing his legs a lot while we were holding him and just didn't know why - maybe to keep himself awake? I had to hand him over to Keith because I couldn't hold him anymore and Keith finally realized what he was doing... he was "kick, kick, kicking" like in the pool! :-) He makes both of us laugh so hard!
At bedtime now he has a new stall tactic and it works the first 3 times. He puts his head on our shoulders so we can rock him and pat his back. He waits a few minutes and then he sits up, grabs our faces and kisses us (whoever is hold him) 4 times. He then switches his head to the other shoulder, waits a minute, sits up and kisses 2 times. And on and on... finally we have to tell him no more kisses... night night time! Night night just like the goyas, bakas and Aunt Dinia.
Alright - no more procrastinating bedtime... tomorrow is going to be a LONG day and we hope and pray it will be a good long day. Then reality hits. :-) Next post will be from our house! Wooohooo!
Here are some pictures to last you a day or two!

Love the photos especially Andrew in the pants, your headband and underwear! Talk about a fashion statement!!! Have a safe trip tomorrow. We're praying you find your Diet Coke (many of them) for your sanity on the flight! You'll be fine!!!
I too enjoyed the photos. I agree that the Russian women are always dressed to a T. Never seen anything like it. Of course, they were all wearing their fur coats when we were there last.
Andrew is simply adorable. I just love his little grin. The outfit (Sesame Pants) was hilarious. We get a few of those at times too :o) Loved the hair dryer pic too.
So glad you are finally coming home. I cannot wait to hear more from you once home and hear how the flight went!! Safe travels and lots of love coming your way!
YAY!! You are coming home!! So glad you will be home soon. And so glad Andrew enjoys the pool. We will have to have some swim dates before the summer is out. If he loves the pool he will really love the slide at our pool here.
Work is work...:( New boss starts next week. Found out in the email they sent to half the company. Worse for Clay who gets back on Monday and probably won't have access to email til then. Got to love it.
Woohoo! Homeward bound - that's wonderful to read! I can't wait to see how the plane went. Hopefully you won't let Andrew pick out what he's gonna wear. I think you'll get stranger looks with the Ses*me Street get up than you did in your sweats, flip flops & no make up. But then again, maybe not!
BTW - I am ALL about comfort & love your Little Ms. Sunshine outfit!
Sounds like you've got quite the waterbaby on your hands! Love the peanut in the peanut shirt :) Hope you have a wonderfully EASY trip home.
You probably won't get this until you get home...but I hope you have a great trip home.
The underwear, pajama, headband pic is my all time fav. My little guy like to wear my headbands around the house too and he ties his robe belt around his waist and pretends he is a kung fu fighter...I guess that is what I get for taking him to see Kung Fu Panda twice at the theater! He thinks he can kung fu like the tiger!
You have an adorable little boy on your hands. I am glad he is eating well for you. That is so good.
I too hope you found your diet coke. You are going to need all the good sanity keeping things that you can get your sweet little hands on!
Sad that I wasn't in Moscow with you...we will have to meet another way :D
It really DOES seem like you guys have been there forever!!! I hope you have a pool, if not, it looks like you might have to get one. Have a safe trip home!
Renae and Joe
Wahhh!! Becky what am I going to do without your blog for 2 days? lol! I hope you have a safe trip tomorrow! Praying for an easy, peaceful flight and that Andrew does great!
Loved the pictures, and enjoyed sharing in your journey to pick up "the peanut". He sure is adorable. I love all of his faces and outfits too. :)
Have a safe trip home, and I too hope that you can find the diet coke machine. A little sanity on a long flight with an almost three year old always helps.
What a charmer you guys have on your hands and so clever. It has been great sharing a part of this adventure with you guys!
da svidanya!
Dinia and Ron
You are probably in the air right now. I do hope your flight is going smoothly and you are having fun with Andrew. (and that you found some diet soda to help you along the way!) Can you believe you are almost home?? Now the real adventure begins!! I look forward to following along.
He is just soooooo adorable. It brings a tear to my eye about his bedtime routine how he kisses 4 times - So cute!!! Have a very safe trip home. I am so happy for you all! Teresa
So we know that you packed some lovely thong underwear for your trip. You have to get that photo framed!
Artem ate us out of house and home as well. It was embarrassing how much he ate and one time he ate at the buffet for 1.5 hours before I finally had to take him out crying. The IA doctor said it's very PI behavior and it will taper off within 6 months. Fortunately it has not taken that long and Artem has a regular appetite now and pulls at his bib and says, "all done" and we know he's had enough.
I hope you have a great flight home!
You all (everyone in that plane) are in my constant prayers until you land. Many reasons, one for safety, and second, Andrew has quiet and good trip. Ask Ron and Dinia what Russian words are for Grandpa and Grandma. Maybe he'll want to call us that. Hope the chiropractor can get you both back in good shape. Enjoy your beds, your animuls and call when you can. Love you all three super bunches.
love, love, love the pics. he is sooo cute. We used to give Kevin 4 and 5 course meals having no idea when he would be full. He never told us. Finally I asked the pediatrician and I knew I was feeding him way too much. He is still a big eater. when he brings his high school buddies over, we are in trouble
