Anyhoo... I'll tell you quickly about our day (pictures tomorrow) and then we'll celebrate our 1st week together as a family (and celebrate the fact that we all made it a week... hehehehe...). Today we went to the zoo. It was not my favorite kind of zoo. Lots and lots of birds which made Andrew one happy boy. He LOVES birds. We saw elephants, a sea lion, some boars, an ox and.... ummmm... birds. Every kind of bird. Even flamingos (yes, flamingos in Russia!).
After the zoo we all took a nap and then went to play on the swing. While on the swing my blogging/email buddy and her husband stopped by to visit! They are here on their court trip. It was awesome to meet them in person. After that we headed to dinner with a bunch of people - all adoptive parents and wouldn't you know, while we were sitting there we met another adoptive couple. You can tell which restaurants have American-type food (we were at a British pub).
So, now to celebrate our first 7 days here is a picture of the boy eating his "first" orange. I know, that's an exciting celebration, huh? He's just so darn cute - it's a celebration in and of itself! Seriously though, these past 7 days have been awesome in every sense. Awesome learning about each other, figuring each other out and watching this little person learn. He's a sponge and the things out of his mouth never cease to amaze me! He's learning his colors, says please (unless he's ticked off and throws his hat and I won't give it back until he says please. He resists the politeness then :-)), loves to give kisses, loves to wrestle with his papa, LOVES food (except for vegetables), ate a lemon (that was fun to watch), talks on the phone (who knows what he says, but boy is it a lot!) and on and on and on!
We're excited to get home and keep on learning and teaching! Speaking of which, tomorrow is packing day!!! Wooohoooo! We're almost there!
Okay - sleep deprived - need sleep!
Toodles!
Becky

You put 3 days left on your post, but it is really 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be at the airport with bells on :-)
Glad Andrew is eating an orange; guess you will have to sneak in vegetables like mom did...
Love you!
Me
Aren't french fries vegetables? :D
I can't believe it is almost time for you to go home. How exciting!
The plane ride will be interesting and I can't wait to hear how that goes :D Just think of it as labor pains. I will pray that the little cutie sleeps for you guys. I know you must be ready to be home and in your own bed. It won't be long!
Man is he cute!
Hey - I agree with Kristine - french fries ARE veggies!
I am so excited tomorrow is packing day for you. I cannot WAIT to hear that you're heading home on Thursday, and then to read your first post State side. Best of luck on the plane ride. You think you're tired now??!! HA!!
Seriously though, I hope you enjoy your last day in Moscow. You've had an amazing journey thus far, but the real fun is about to begin!
He's so adorable!! Enjoy your last couple days in "Mockba"!
What a cutie and you guys are almost home. Lots of reasons to celebrate!!! I bet it was fun to watch Andrew eat the lemon - I may have to try one on Daniel soon!!
I am so excited you are almost home. I can't believe it is almost time for you to board a plane for Atlanta. Of course, you feel like it's been forever :o) I know you are ready to see family and sleep in your own bed. It is nice being overseas as you have nothing to do but spend time with one another.
I'm glad Andrew is taking an interest in colors (one area we are having trouble) and trying to communicate with you already. He may transition very quickly.
He is so cute, but you know that already. Love the new picture of him eating an orange. Looks delicious!
Hi Becky - Wow only a couple of days left in Moscow!! I am so happy for you guys that you are almost home and then all of your friends and family can finally meet Andrew in person - that is the most exciting thing! Best wishes with everything...Teresa
Soooo cute! I'm so glad you're almost done with this never-ending 10 day wait! Keep on posting things about this gorgeous little man - it's so fun to see what he's into next...
I can not believe that you will be home in just a couple of days. The funny thing is I feel like it went so fast. I bet you just can not wait to get him all tucked into his little bed.
I was showing Gerard his picture and now he is in a frenzy to find hats for our little guy. I just love that think dark hair. What a cute little peanut.
Joy
Hopefully time will fly because you guys are having so much fun! I love his hair too, but just want to know how you get him to keep a hat on for more than 30 seconds?
That orange looked so good, I know what my boys will be snacking on tomorrow!
Wishing you safe travels home!
HE IS SOOOOOO DARN CUTE!!
Doesn't make him a bad kid not liking veggies... Mattson would rather eat a booger sandwich than eat a veggie..... I'd rather him have good manners than eat a carrot or some green beans...
He will like them later...
I MISS YOU AND THINK ABOUT YOU 100 TIMES A DAY ATLEAST!
much love,
shyra
So it's almost time for you guys to come home. Tomorrow right? I hope your flight home is non-eventful and that Andrew enjoys it too. Safe travels!
Hey there Mixon's... Yeah for almost getting to go home! Katie says she wants to come visit once you get settled down and everything gets into a routine..
I recently read that kids are programmed not to like veggies.. They have like 10 times the amount of taste buds that adults have and it was to keep them alive back in the prehistoric days. Bitter/bland was bad - poisonous - sweet was good.. So.. try Jessica Seinfeld's book about how to hide veggies in everyday food. That way you know he is getting everything he needs while his taste buds are still saying nyet to veggies.
Say hi to Keith for me. Love you guys.
